2. Scope
These Terms & Conditions apply to all registrations, bookings, workshops, accommodation options, training materials and related services provided by TækkeSelv.
By registering for a workshop, participants confirm that they have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

3. Workshop Philosophy
TækkeSelv aims to preserve and promote traditional Danish thatching by making practical knowledge accessible to homeowners, DIY enthusiasts and anyone interested in learning traditional craftsmanship.
The workshops combine theoretical instruction with practical experience on both a dedicated practice roof and, where appropriate, a real thatched roof.
Workshops are educational in nature and are designed to teach traditional techniques—not to certify participants as professional thatchers.

4. Registration
Workshop places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registration becomes binding once written confirmation has been received from TækkeSelv.
A workshop place is only secured after receipt of the required deposit.

5. Workshop Dates
Workshops are organised throughout the year.
The first workshops are scheduled from September 2026 onwards.
Workshop dates are planned based on registrations. Once the minimum number of participants has been reached, workshop dates will be confirmed.
Where possible, TækkeSelv will take participants’ availability into account when scheduling workshops.

6. Minimum Number of Participants
Workshops require a minimum of six (6) participants.
If insufficient registrations are received, TækkeSelv reserves the right to:
postpone the workshop;
combine groups;
offer an alternative date;
or refund any payments already received.

7. Workshop Fees
All prices shown on the website include Danish VAT unless stated otherwise.
Workshop fees are based on current material costs.
Because natural materials such as reed are subject to market fluctuations, TækkeSelv reserves the right to adjust workshop prices in the event of significant increases in material costs before the workshop takes place.
Participants will be informed of any price adjustment as soon as reasonably possible before the remaining balance becomes due.

8. Payment
A 50% deposit is required when registering for a workshop.
The deposit enables TækkeSelv to:
reserve the participant’s place;
purchase workshop materials;
prepare the workshop.
The remaining balance must be paid before the workshop starts.

9. Cancellation by Participants
More than 30 days before the workshop:
The remaining workshop fee will be refunded.
The deposit is generally non-refundable, as materials and preparation costs may already have been incurred.
14–30 days before the workshop:
50% of the remaining workshop fee will be refunded.
Less than 14 days before the workshop:
No refund will normally be given.
Participants may transfer their booking to another person after approval by TækkeSelv.

10. Cancellation by TækkeSelv
TækkeSelv reserves the right to postpone or cancel workshops due to:
insufficient registrations;
illness;
severe weather;
unsafe working conditions;
force majeure;
circumstances beyond reasonable control.
Participants will be offered:
an alternative workshop date; or
a full refund of payments made.
TækkeSelv cannot be held responsible for travel expenses, accommodation costs, loss of income or any indirect costs.

11. Workshop Content
Workshop programmes may vary depending on:
weather conditions;
roof conditions;
participant experience;
safety considerations;
availability of materials.
TækkeSelv reserves the right to modify workshop content where necessary.

12. Educational Purpose
The workshops are intended for educational purposes only.
Participants receive practical instruction and experience in traditional thatching techniques.
Completion of a workshop does not constitute professional certification, qualification or authorisation to perform roofing work.

13. Roof Assessment
Every roof is unique.
Before carrying out any overthatching, repairs, ridge replacement or construction work on a roof, participants remain responsible for ensuring that the roof is structurally suitable.
TækkeSelv strongly recommends that all roofs are inspected by a qualified thatching professional and, where appropriate, by a structural engineer before any work is undertaken.
Participation in a workshop does not imply that an individual participant’s roof is suitable for any particular technique.

14. Participant Responsibilities
Participants remain solely responsible for all work carried out after completion of the workshop.
This includes responsibility for:
planning work;
assessing structural suitability;
selecting materials;
complying with local legislation;
obtaining permits where required;
workmanship;
ongoing maintenance.

15. Health and Safety
Working with thatched roofs involves manual labour, ladders, scaffolding, sharp tools, natural materials and, where applicable, working at height.
Participants agree to:
follow all safety instructions given by the instructor;
use tools responsibly;
immediately report unsafe situations;
wear appropriate work clothing;
wear sturdy footwear (safety footwear is strongly recommended);
use any personal protective equipment required during the workshop;
behave responsibly towards fellow participants.
TækkeSelv reserves the right to refuse participation in any practical activity where the instructor considers participation unsafe.
Access to the real roof is entirely at the instructor’s discretion.

16. Physical Fitness
Participants confirm that they are physically capable of carrying out moderate manual work.
Participants should inform TækkeSelv before the workshop if they have any medical condition that may affect safe participation.

17. Insurance
Participants are responsible for arranging any personal insurance they consider appropriate.
This may include:
personal accident insurance;
public liability insurance;
other insurance relevant to roofing activities.
Participants intending to carry out work on their own property or on the property of others after the workshop remain fully responsible for ensuring that appropriate insurance is in place.

18. Liability
Participation in workshops is entirely voluntary and at the participant’s own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bleekrode Erfgoed ApS and TækkeSelv accept no liability for:
injuries sustained during participation, except where caused by gross negligence or wilful misconduct;
damage arising from work carried out after completion of the workshop;
structural failures;
roof leaks;
construction defects;
incorrect application of workshop techniques;
financial loss;
indirect or consequential damages.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes liability where such exclusion is prohibited under Danish law.

19. Accommodation
Camping and accommodation are optional services available to workshop participants.
Camping takes place in a natural woodland environment.
Participants are responsible for:
their own camping equipment;
ensuring tents are suitable for expected weather;
personal safety.
Camping takes place entirely at the participant’s own risk.
Bleekrode Erfgoed ApS accepts no liability for damage caused by weather, falling branches, wildlife, theft or other natural circumstances.
During severe weather TækkeSelv reserves the right to suspend camping activities for safety reasons.

20. Photography and Media
Photographs, videos and participant stories may be collected during workshops.
These may be used for communication and promotional purposes on:
the TækkeSelv website;
social media;
printed publications;
newsletters;
future marketing materials.
Where required by applicable privacy legislation, identifiable images or testimonials will only be published with the participant’s consent.

21. Intellectual Property
All workshop materials, manuals, presentations, photographs, illustrations, educational content and teaching methods remain the intellectual property of Bleekrode Erfgoed ApS.
Participants may use the knowledge gained for personal or professional roofing activities.
However, workshop materials and the TækkeSelv teaching concept may not be copied, reproduced, distributed or used to organise or promote competing workshops without prior written permission.

22. Privacy
Personal information is processed in accordance with the TækkeSelv Privacy Policy.

23. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by Danish law.
Any disputes arising from these Terms & Conditions shall be submitted to the competent Danish courts.
